The Windmill

A windmill is a mill that converts the energy of wind into rotational energy by means of vanes called sails or blades. Centuries ago, windmills usually were used to mill grain, pump water, or both. Thus they often were gristmills, windpumps, or both. The majority of modern windmills take the form of wind turbines used to generate electricity, or windpumps used to pump water, either for land drainage or to extract groundwater.

The English Market

The English Market comprises Princes Street Market and Grand Parade Market, and is a municipal food market in the centre of Cork, Ireland. The market is administered by Cork City Council. The market is well supported locally and has become a tourist attraction - drawing visitors from throughout the world, including a visit by Queen Elizabeth II during her 2011 state visit. The term English Market was coined in the 19th Century to distinguish the market from the nearby St. Peter's Market (now the site of the Bodega on Cornmarket Street), which was known as the Irish Market.

The Fireman
Mime Artist

A mime or mime artist is someone who uses mime as a theatrical medium or as a performance art, involving miming, or the acting out a story through body motions, without use of speech. In earlier times, in English, such a performer would typically be referred to as a mummer. Miming is to be distinguished from silent comedy, in which the artist is a seamless character in a film or sketch.

Canoes

Canoes are used for racing, whitewater canoeing, touring and camping, freestyle, and general recreation. The intended use of the canoe dictates its hull shape and length and construction material.
Historically, canoes were dugouts or made of bark on a wood frame, but construction materials evolved to canvas on a wood frame, then to aluminum. Most modern canoes are made of molded plastic or composites such as fiberglass. Until the mid-1800s the canoe was an important means of transport for exploration and trade, but then transitioned to recreational or sporting use. Canoeing has been part of the Olympics since 1936. In places where the canoe played a key role in history, such as the northern United StatesCanada, and New Zealand, the canoe remains an important theme in popular culture.

St Anne Chapel - Dwejra

Gozo, Malta

Works on the Chapel started early in 1963 and were finished in July of the same year. The plans of said chapel were drawn by Architect Joe Mizzi and the master builder was Wenzu Formosa, ex-sacristan of the parish church of San Lawrenz. All expenses were paid by Rev. Fr. Alwig Mizzi, Salesian.
The Chapel, which is dedicated to Saint Anne, was blessed by Rev. Mons. G. Pace, Bishop of Gozo, on the 25th July, 1963 on the eve of Saint’s liturgical feast.
Special festivities are held every year on the 25th & 26th July in honour of Saint Anne’s liturgical feast.

Ireland v Oman (29-08-2016)

Ireland have faced Oman twice before in 2012 and 2014, winning 4-1 and 2-0 respectively. This is the second time Oman have visited the Aviva Stadium, and arrive on the back of a recent 1-0 win against Turkmenistan. Oman have already been eliminated from their own 2018 World Cup campaign, going out in the second round of the Asian qualifiers. They are ranked 107th on the FIFA rankings, having dropped thirty-five places in the last ten years. Despite this statistic, they cannot be underestimated at the moment with such calibre as their current manager Juan Ramon Lopez Caro in their ranks. The Spanish national has been involved with the likes of Real Madrid and Celta de Vigo and will be as prepared as possible for their friendly against Ireland.

Robbie Keane

On 24 August 2016, Keane announced his retirement from international football. His last match for Ireland was a friendly against Oman on 31 August 2016 at the Aviva Stadium. Ireland emerged victorious 4–0 and Keane signed off with a goal to take him level with German great Gerd Müller on 68 international goals. He served as captain of the Republic of Ireland national team from March 2006 until his international retirement. Keane scored a total of 68 goals for the Republic of Ireland national team over an 18-year international career, making him the all-time record Irish scorer. His 146 caps makes him their highest appearance-maker. Keane is the joint fourth-highest scoring European in history. He is also the all-time top scorer in European Championship qualification matches. He received a rousing ovation from the assembled crowd when he was substituted in the 57th minute. Keane was also given a guard of honor from his Ireland teammates after the match had finished and he left the pitch with his two sons to rapturous applause from the home fans.
